A Weekend of Firsts for our Furry Friend...

This past weekend was...
Lucy's first birthday, Lucy's first time at the lake, in the lake and on the boat. I was fully anticipating her LOVING the water since she LOVES getting a bath, but no quite the opposite. She went in the water three times, once on her own and the other two times with a little help. The first time I threw in her tennis ball and she jumped in right after it, but as soon as she realized she couldn't touch the bottom she PANICKED!! She was clawing at the dock trying to get out, and completely forgot all about the ball (which is a big deal for her to forget about a ball, its all she ever thinks about), Grandbud had to show her to swim to the rocks and climb out that way. So, everyone thinks if I get in the lake she'll just jump right in after me, oh contrare...so Mom pushes her in (yes, can you believe it, Debs did the dirty work!!!) and this time she swims over to me and let's just say it was a near death situation people...good thing she only weighs 52 pounds! The third time Brad threw her in and it was just as before, she wanted the heck out of there! After the third time of her acting like a cat instead of a Labrador Retriever, Brad looks at Lucy with the most serious face and says "Lucy, you're embarrassing me girl." Poor Brad, it was like we had taken a kid to a soccer practice and they wouldn't participate or something.

On a better note as parents of Lucy...she did ride all the way down and back without having an accident in the car or throwing up...YES!!! And she did LOVE LOVE LOVE the boat ride. She was a very good girl and even though she kind of embarrassed Brad I can't complain!! Here are some cute pictures from the weekend...

Say Hello to a New Beginning...

As you may (or may not) know I have been looking for a job for about six months now. I contemplated going to Physician's Assistant school, or getting my Masters, but after four hard years at VT I decided to take a little break from school, for some reason "no homework" just has a nice sounding ring to it :)

So...I applied and applied and applied and called and called and called, and then FINALLY I got a call from the administrator at Parkway Christian Academy (PCA) asking if I would be available for an interview on Monday (which just so happened to be the Monday before my Physics and Metabolic final on Tuesday) at 5:30, although in my head I'm saying "oh my gosh no I have waaaayyy to much studying to do", somehow all that came out of my mouth was "yes, that would be great, see you then!" So, I go on for my interview at Parkway Christian Academy, and get a call a couple days later offering me a job teaching seventh grade!!! I am beyond excited, but I'm also a little nervous. And an added perk is that its only a one minute walk from my front door!!! And just like Lindsey says I deserve to be able to walk to work after driving 45 minutes to and from school for a whole year!!!

On another note...Brad's High School soccer season is over. They lost in the district semi-finals...I really felt for those seniors (it wasn't too terribly long ago I was in their shoes). But, on a happier note I will be glad to have my husband back, and I'm looking forward to a FUN summer!!

The Past Is Ending...

I am officially a Virginia Tech Alumni!!! Wow...that sounds really weird. As excited as I was leading up to graduation, it was actually bittersweet. I know I've said this before, but seriously I LOOOOOVE Virginia Tech. To me being a Hokie is heaven on earth, and my four years there were filled with great friends and great memories! Here are some pictures of the big day...

But...I think I'll survive as long as I can wake up with this everyday :)

Oh, and a post to come soon about the future after graduation :)

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Today is Mom's birthday, known to all of you as "Deb's" :)

In honor of Mom's birthday I thought I would tell you all a little story about Mom's 30th birthday...

Dad and I were out running errands for Mom's birthday the day of her birthday (Big Steve, bless his heart, always waits until the last possible second to do things), and we got the bright idea of getting Mom a singing telegram. I know what you're thinking...what is this the 50's, but no actually this was only 14 years ago today. So we go home probably make Mom a cake filled with egg shells (oops), and proceed to get ready for the party while trying to mask the excitement of our big surprise!! When the door bell rings Dad and I know exactly what we're in store for, so we go open the door and in walks our very own personal human cupcake. (I can just see the jealousy in all of your faces as you're reading this.) The cupcake comes in and sings Mom a song, gives her a card and goes onto her next party...this was probably the only 30 year old woman she'd ever sung to because let me tell you this was definitely geared toward a child, but we didn't even care we were SO SO PROUD...Big Steve was probably grinning from ear to ear :) I wish I had a picture to share with you, but unfortunately I don't... But here are some shots of the greatest Mom EVER!!!

Now you know where all that Sass came from :)

You Can Just Call Me Martha...Minus the Anklet

Hello friends, I know it has been far far too long, over a month...and no I don't have the swine flu or anything don't be alrmed, but as you will see shortly I have been very busy. Let me recap the last month for you...
First there was Easter, unfortunately I have no "First Easter as a Married Couple" pictures to show you, I know I know I'm not winning any wife of the year awards here...
Then, there was April 16th which brought back all kinds of memories and emotions
but this post isn't going there...its supposed to be light-hearted (hence the title)

And since it is finally spring and we are finally getting some nice spring weather it seems like Brad and I have been spending every free second outside, either giving Lucy much needed baths since her new favorite hobby happens to be rolling around in cat poo (that somehow ends up in our yard even though we don't have cats...don't get me started on that tangent!!), or planting flowers, or climbing trees, or just playing in the sun!! And brace yourselves, I might have even started a garden!!! Yes, you heard correctly G-A-R-D-E-N like with real vegetables in it! Here are some pictures of the fruits of our labor :)

So yes, we have been busy busy getting the yard ready for my GRADUATION PARTY!!! Yes it is only 14 days away from graduation weekend! So if you read this fake blogger friends and you want to come feel free, I mean how cool would it be if P-Dub somehow found her cute country self on my blog and somehow decided that she wanted to bring her cute country self her MM and those cute kids to my party...I wouldn't want to disappoint right?

Oh and one more thing...who wouldn't want to work in the garden with this kind of help??

Oh Lucy, please stop rolling the cat stuff...

Or with this to watch, I mean help?

Phew, let me go catch my breath...
